What is OEE?
OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) measures how much of your planned production time is truly productive. It is the product of three factors: Availability × Performance × Quality, expressed as a percentage.
How do you calculate OEE?
OEE = Availability × Performance × Quality. Availability = run time ÷ planned time; Performance = (ideal cycle time × total count) ÷ run time; Quality = good count ÷ total count. Multiply the three to get a single percentage.
What is a good OEE score?
World-class OEE for discrete manufacturing is around 85%. Many plants run at 40–60% when they first measure it, so there is usually significant hidden capacity to recover.

What is the difference between OEE and TRS?
None — TRS (Taux de Rendement Synthétique) is simply the French term for OEE. The formula and interpretation are identical.
What is the difference between OEE software and an MES?
OEE software focuses on measuring and improving equipment effectiveness in real time and deploys in days. An MES manages the whole production execution workflow (orders, traceability, scheduling) and is a much larger, longer implementation. Many plants start with OEE and add MES capabilities later.
Do you need PLC integration to measure OEE?
No. Non-intrusive sensors can capture cycles, states and stops without touching the PLC, which makes it possible to measure OEE on mixed and ageing machines and to deploy in 24–48 hours without stopping production.
